Cozmopolitan Sunkyoung

As I posted on Twitter (see the right side bar of this page) earlier this week, I moved in to a place to stay yesterday. It a two-storied house owned by a 49-year-old man, who’s renting out the two rooms his son and daughter used to live. The best reason I chose this place, after three-day-walking tour in many places of Brussels, actual visits to several places, and numerous e-mails and phone calls, is its good location: very close to the office – I assume it’d take only 15-20 minutes by walking-, and also close to nature – Auderghem, the commune (There are 19 communes in total in Brussels and it’s like ‘ku (區)’ in Korea.) where I live is a suburban area and it has lots of green space such as parks and forest. But, as Brussels isn’t really big and also thanks to the good transportation system, it’s easy to get to city centre. If you go to Brussels folder in my google map, you can see some places I’ve marked.

Initially I had preferred a shared apartment with people more or less than my age but when it came to actual search, some conditions didn’t meet my needs: No internet, impossibility to move in immediately and to stay for six months (minimum 1 year), depressing outlook etc.

Anyway, below are some pictures of my place and I will soon upload more pictures I’ve taken since I came to Brussels.

금주 초에 Twitter (트위터: 오른쪽 사이트 바를 보시길)에 올렸던 것처럼, 어제 새로 살 곳으로 이사했다. 49세 아저씨께서 소유하고 있는 3층 짜리 집인데 아들과 딸이 쓰던 방 두 개를 세 놓으신 거다. 3일 동안 브러셀의 여기 저기를 걸어서 돌아다니고, 몇 군데는 실제 가보기도 하고, 이메일과 전화를 여러 통 주고받은 후, 마침내 이 집으로 결정한 이유는 무엇보다도 최적의 장소이기 때문이다. 회사에서 가깝고 (내 생각에는 걸어서 15-20분이면 닿을 듯) 자연과도 가깝기 때문이다 – 내가 살고 있는 commune (꼬뮨)인 Auderghem (오데흐겜: 브러셀에는 모두 19개의 꼬뮨이 있는데, 한국으로 치면 ‘구’와 같은 개념이다.)은 교외지역이라 공원과 숲 같은 녹색공간이 많다. 하지만 브러셀이 워낙 작은 곳이고 대중교통이 잘 갖춰져 있어 시내 중심부로 가기도 편하다. 구글맵의 브러셀 폴더에 가면 내가 지금까지 표시해 놓은 곳들을 볼 수 있다.

원래는 내 나이 또래의 사람들과 같이 쓰는 집을 선호했으나 실제로 찾아다녀 본 결과, 몇 가지 조건들이 맞지 않았다. 인터넷이 없다든지, 당장 이사가 안 된다든지, 6개월 동안 사는 것은 불가능 하거나 (최소 1년 거주 요구), 방 생김새가 우울하거나 등등.

어쨌든 아래에 여기 집 사진을 올린다. 브러셀에 도착한 후 찍은 사진들도 곧 올리려고 한다.
