요 며칠 재미있는 것을 발견해서 소개하고자 한다. 프랑스의 낙농 업체인 Danone에서 만든 이 Fjørd(피요르드)라는 떠먹는 요구르트를 먹다가 요구르트통 뚜껑을 쳐다봤는데, 조금 황당한 그림과 문구에 피식하고 웃음이 나왔다. 얼핏 봤을 때에는 펭귄인 줄 알았는데 가까이서 보니 펭귄 탈을 쓴 사람이었다. 그나저나 펭귄이 극지대 말고 피요르드에도 사나? 그리고 Fjørd 아래 작게 쓴 문구에는 ‘신선함이냐 좋은 맛이냐? 그것이 문제로다!’라고 씌여있었다. 먹을 것에 있어서 이것이 과연 양자택일의 문제인가?

I want to share a few fun things I’ve found recently. Eating Fjørd, one of French Danone’s plain yoghurt, I looked at the container seal and giggled. With a glimpse, I thought it was penguins on the bottom-right but, by looking closely, they turned out men wearing penguins’ masks. By the way, do penguins live in fjord besides polar areas? The small blue phrases under Fjørd say ‘Fresh or Tasty? That is the question! (Frais ou Bon? Telle est la question!)’ With food, how can it be a dichotomous questions?

브뤼셀에서 내가 즐겨 먹는 과일 중 하나는 청포도인데 며칠 전에 장 보러 갔을 때 종이에 쌓여있는 것 대신 귀여운 작은 비닐 봉투에 담긴 것을 샀다. 그리고 나서 든 생각 – 종이와 비닐 봉투 중 어느 것을 사용하는 것이 환경에 덜 해로울까?

One of the fruits I enjoy in Brussels are white grapes. When I went out for groceries, I chose white grapes contained in a small cute plastic bag instead of the ones wrapped in paper. A thought that came across afterwards – for using a plastic bag or paper, which is less harmful to the environment?
