I am known as 이선경 / 李善暻 / Sunkyoung Lee / Sunny.

Cosmopolitan / 세계 시민

By defining myself as a ‘cosmopolitan’—a word derived from the Greek kosmopolitês (‘citizen of the world’)—, I aim to strive towards being open-minded and eschewing ignorance and prejudice.

This site serves as on-line space where I keep records of my random thoughts and observations. Through it, I hope to be able to get an insight into the contextually rich world around me and therefore broaden my understanding.

As many cosmopolitans do, I will hop on and off the trains of the universal and the particular, finding always one in the other, because every human behaviour and situation can never be either wholly universal or particular.

I was intrigued by your blog(s). in fact I found my way here to this one after searching pictures on google and one was from your blog…winding, wounding all the way here.

I am not sure I have anything consequential to add, just that I liked it. Also good luck at the Brussles European Commission where you are starting working.

I am interested in things political aswell. My uncles have been politicans but my parent have always said that it destroys families and your health so only ever consider it after you have raised a family…

Thank you, Owen, for coming all the way down here and your wish. I’d partly agree with your parents as being a politician seems sometimes rather better for others’ families.

Btw I am also Irish Catholic so I liked the pictures of Paddy’s day alot. Good on you for taking part and organising it!

Here in NZ we don’t have parades like New York and Seoul but everyone goes to the pub and just get wasted on guinness…

You know that Koreans have been referred to by scholars as “The Irish of the East” due to your emotional temperaments, History of external opression and boisterous humour.

That’s how you found my blog. I’m glad you liked the photos. It was such a fantastic experience to me planning and organising the festival for two years. I’m very well aware of the reference and I’m very happy about it. :)

    Hello Sunkyoung!
I, too, really appreciate your blog. I’m an American of Swedish/Czech and Korean heritage working as an English teacher in Daegu, trying to learn Korean and French. Randomly, I found your blog from a search for “Home Plus” :)

You inspire me w. the great things that you’re doing. Follow your dreams!

  6. Sunkyoung:

Christiana – Thank you for ‘finding’ my blog! I guess you first found my blogspot blog and finally ended up here becasue I remember I posted a post with ‘Home P(l)us’ in my old blog.

I’m so glad to hear that I inspire you, which I hope I can by sharing my experiences through blogging. Good luck with your Korean and French!
